KYOTO MANUFACTURING
Kyoto is often seen as a city of temples and tradition.
But behind that image, there are factories — places where things are still made by hand.
WELIGHT was born in one of those places.
京都は、寺院や伝統の街として語られることが多い場所です。
しかしその裏側には、今も手仕事でものを作り続ける工場があります。
WELIGHTは、そうした場所のひとつから生まれました。
CONCEPT
WHY ALUMINUM?
Traditional resonator guitars made of steel or brass are beautiful,
but often too heavy.
WELIGHT uses aluminum for both the cone and the body.
When the same material vibrates together, resonance flows naturally.
We wanted to build instruments that musicians can truly use on stage —
and connect directly with players in the United States.
スチールや真鍮で作られた従来のレゾネーターギターは、
美しい一方で、重すぎると感じることが少なくありません。
WELIGHTは、コーンとボディの両方にアルミニウムを使用しています。
同じ素材が共に振動することで、
共鳴は自然に、そしてスムーズに伝わります。
私たちは、
本当にステージで使える楽器を作りたいと考えました。
そして、アメリカのミュージシャンと
直接つながるために、このギターを作っています。

CORE STORY
Kyoto is often seen as a city of temples and tradition.
But behind that image, there are factories — places where things are still made by hand.
WELIGHT was born in one of those places.
We chose aluminum not for novelty, but for sound and weight.
Steel and brass resonators can be heavy.
Wood was not the answer we were looking for.
By building both the cone and the body from aluminum,
vibration is shared instead of blocked.
The result is a clear, responsive resonance that feels alive.
Each WELIGHT guitar is built one at a time, with care and intention.
That is why we cannot make many.
These instruments are meant to be played on stage —
and also admired when you are not playing.
京都は、寺院や伝統の街として語られることが多い場所です。
しかしその裏側には、
今も手仕事でものを作り続ける工場があります。
WELIGHTは、そうした場所のひとつから生まれました。
私たちがアルミニウムを選んだ理由は、
目新しさのためではありません。
音と重量のためです。
スチールや真鍮のレゾネーターは、美しい反面、重い。
木材も、私たちが求めていた答えではありませんでした。
コーンとボディを同じアルミニウムで作ることで、
振動は遮られることなく共有されます。
その結果、クリアで反応の良い、
生きているような共鳴が生まれます。
WELIGHTのギターは、一本ずつ、
意図と愛情を込めて制作されています。
だから大量には作れません。
このギターは、
ステージで演奏されるための楽器であり、
そして演奏していない時には
眺めてほれぼれする存在でもあります。
